UNIVERISTY OF MICHIGAN WILL NAME JIM HARBAUGH AS NEW HEAD COACH OF THE WOLVERINE’S FOOTBALL DEPARTMENT

After four football seasons, Brady Hoke will pass on his duties to a new head coach.

ANN ARBOR, MI—Jim Harbaugh, head coach of the NFL’s San Francisco 49er’s and former Michigan quarterback, will replace Brady Hoke as head coach of the University of Michigan’s football team on Tuesday December 30, 2014.

After serving as head coach of the Michigan football team since 2011, the school fired Hoke for his inability to meet Wolverine winning standards. The Michigan Athletic Department will name Harbaugh, who has been a head coach since 2004, to replace him. Harbaugh returns to his alma mater in hopes of resurrecting Michigan football. His brother John is currently the head coach of the Baltimore Ravens, while his father Jack coached Stamford Cardinal football. Jim and his wife, Sarah Feuerborn Harbaugh, plan on relocating their family to Ann Arbor, MI. Together they have three children.

"[I] want to thank Brady and Laura Hoke, my very good friends for their outstanding service at the University of Michigan. They have honored the University of Michigan football program, and I'm pleased to have such a tremendous foundation to stand on,” said Harbaugh.

“Michigan [getting] that type of coach [is] incredible, especially with him knowing the history of the school and the tradition, playing there. Just to have him back as part of the school [is] phenomenal,” according to Tom Brady, a three-time Super Bowl winner and former University of Michigan football player.

"I swear there's been more unbridled irrational exuberance over Harbaugh's arrival than there was in 1997–98 over a national title," stated John U. Bacon, author of Endzone: The Rise, Fall, and Return of Michigan Football, in GQ Magazine.

Harbaugh will be inducted as the 20th head football coach at the University of Michigan. His notable days as a college player combined with his extensive array of coaching credentials, at both the professional and collegiate level, attest to Harbaugh’s deep level of commitment to the program. His experiences as a player and as a coach make the Athletic Department extremely confident in their decision in naming Harbaugh new head of the football team.

Welcome home Jim, go blue!
